What is Brightwater and are people moving in?
Brightwater is a 72-acre master-planned mixed-use development in Port Credit, Mississauga, at 70 Mississauga Rd. S. and 181 Lakeshore Rd. W. It includes apartments, townhouses, back-to-back townhouses and live work units. Construction started in October 2021, residents have moved into the first and second phases, and plans filed in April of 2024 would add 898 units for a total of 3,893.
Can I see the shade material before ordering?
You can order free material samples from our website before buying. A screen cannot show you how a colour will look beside your walls and furnishings. Hold the samples near the window and look at them at different times of day before choosing. We identify each material by the number we cut it by.
Zebra shades come in materials 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 16, 17, 19, 24, 27, 28, 30 and 32. Roller blinds come in materials 20, 21, 22 and 31. Shangri-La shades come in materials 33 and 35. They have their own size-based pricing and can be ordered online.
What blinds suit floor to ceiling condo glass?
A zebra shade has alternating sheer and solid bands on one roller. Line the bands up for privacy or offset them for filtered daylight. One shade gives a tall pane both functions without needing a blind and a curtain. A roller blind is a single panel of fabric with no bands. Shangri-La shades have soft fabric vanes held between two sheer layers. The chain tilts the vanes open or closed, then rolls the shade up.
Decide on the mount before measuring a condo window. An inside mount sits within the opening and needs at least 2 inches of flat depth for the cassette. An outside mount fixes to the wall above the opening and overlaps it. Add at least 2 inches each side and 2 to 3 inches above for an outside mount. Measure width first, then height, to the nearest 1/8 of an inch.
Which shade materials work for a bedroom?
The room-darkening zebra materials are 1, 2, 5, 9, 13 and 30. Material 35 is the room-darkening option for Shangri-La shades. These are the dark colours. Room-darkening does not mean shutting out all light. Use the samples to help choose the fabric you want beside your bed and other furnishings.

What should I check before ordering a balcony door blind?
A balcony door is usually the widest opening in a flat. Consider one wide shade or two side by side. Check where the handle lands before choosing the mount and how to divide the opening. We make shades from 9 to 109 inches wide and up to 130 inches high. Widths of 94 inches and over travel by courier in their own carton, with an $85 charge once per order.
For an inside mount, measure the opening at the top, middle and bottom, then use the narrowest width. Measure from the top of the opening to the sill at the left, middle and right, then use the longest height. Give us the exact opening without subtracting anything. We make the deduction ourselves. Measure every opening separately, using the same tape.
How much do made-to-measure blinds cost?
These are examples of common window sizes. Each shade is priced from the measurements of the window it is for. A chain-operated zebra shade at 36 by 84 inches is $311.40. At 48 by 72 inches it is $348.60. At 42 by 84 inches it is $354.80. At 48 by 84 inches it is $398.20. All four together come to $1,413.00.
A roller blind at 36 by 84 inches is $218.85. A motorized zebra shade at 48 by 84 inches is $513.20, with the remote extra, once. These worked prices are before tax, with shipping in Canada included. GST or HST is charged by delivery province. There is no minimum order, so one shade is fine. We make shades to order in Richmond Hill and dispatch within three working days of a confirmed order. Transit time is additional.
Will you come to Brightwater to install blinds?
Brightwater is roughly 40 km from our workshop in a straight line. We install within 75 km of Elgin Mills and Yonge in Richmond Hill. Installation costs $100 per window, with a minimum of three windows for a visit. The workshop is an assembly shop.
The mechanical parts of a shade our own team installs have lifetime warranty cover. Those parts are the roller, chain, brackets and motor. Fabric is excluded. For shades we do not install, mechanical parts have 1 year of free cover, currently upgraded free to 3 years.
