A Shangri-La shade is soft fabric vanes held between two sheer layers, on one roller. The chain tilts the vanes open or closed, then rolls the whole shade up into its cassette. We make them to measure in two materials, 33 and 35, priced by the size of your window and ordered online.
How it works
- Vanes open: they turn level between the two sheers, and you look out through the sheer.
- Vanes closed: they turn down and overlap, inside the sheer.
- Rolled up: keep turning the chain and the sheers and vanes roll into the cassette together, leaving the window clear.
Shangri-La or zebra?
A zebra shade is two layers of alternating sheer and solid bands that slide past each other: line the solid bands up for privacy, offset them for filtered light. A Shangri-La shade has no bands. Its vanes sit inside the sheer and tilt, the way the slats of a blind do, while the sheer stays in front of them. Both are corded, on a continuous-loop chain.
