What is The Townmanors of Brownsville in Schomberg?
The Townmanors of Brownsville is a townhome development by Sunny Communities on the northeast corner of Main Street and Cooper Drive in Schomberg, in King Township. It is under construction.
The development is roughly 25 km from our Richmond Hill workshop in a straight line. It is inside the 75 km area where we install.
Should I order blinds for the whole house or in stages?
There is no minimum order. One shade is fine, so bedrooms and street-facing rooms can come first in a new house. The remake guarantee covers one blind per customer on website orders of three shades or more. It does not apply to trade accounts. An installation visit has a minimum of three windows. Custom shades are final sale once the order is confirmed. That does not cover a shade that arrives faulty, damaged or different from what was ordered.
Measure once you have access to the finished window openings. Decide on the mount before measuring. An inside mount needs at least 2 inches of flat depth inside the frame. Measure width first, then height, to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. Take widths at the top, middle and bottom, and use the narrowest. Measure heights to the sill at the left, middle and right, and use the longest. Give us the exact opening without subtracting anything. We make the deduction. For an outside mount, add at least 2 inches each side and 2 to 3 inches above. Measure every window rather than carrying a measurement from one room to another.
What blinds can I use on windows facing the street?
Zebra shades have alternating sheer and solid bands on one roller. Line the bands up for privacy. Offset them for filtered daylight. You can adjust the bands as your privacy needs change through the day.

For a bedroom where you want room-darkening material, zebra materials 1, 2, 5, 9, 13 and 30 carry that description. A roller blind is a single fabric panel with no bands. Shangri-La shades have soft fabric vanes held between two sheer layers. Their chain tilts the vanes open or closed, then rolls the shade up.
Can I see the material before ordering?
You can order free material samples from our website before buying. We identify each material by the number the workshop cuts it by. Keep that number with your room notes when you decide what to order.

A colour on a screen is a poor guide to how fabric will look in a room. Look at the sample beside the walls and finishes you plan to use. If your closing date is still ahead, ordering samples gives you something useful to settle before the final measurements. You can choose materials without placing a confirmed shade order.
What does it cost to motorize a floor of windows?
Any shade can be motorized for $115.00 more. One remote costs $50.00 and runs up to 15 shades. A motorized shade has no chain at all. You can choose which shades to motorize rather than making the same choice for every room.
Our chain-operated shades have a continuous-loop chain, sold shrouded and anchored to the wall with a tension device. You choose which side the chain hangs on when ordering. Our workshop sets the drop length to suit the window you have measured.
What should I budget for blinds before moving day?
These are common-window examples for chain-operated zebra shades: 24 by 36 inches is $125.40 for a bathroom-window example; 30 by 48 inches is $175.00, 36 by 48 inches is $199.80, and 36 by 60 inches is $237.00 for bedroom-window examples. All four together come to $737.20. As a roller blind, 24 by 36 inches is $86.10. As a motorized zebra shade, 36 by 60 inches is $352.00. The remote is extra, once. Every shade is priced from the measurements of the window it is for.
