What is Queensville, Sharon and Holland Landing, and how far along is it?

Queensville, Sharon and Holland Landing is a development under construction in Sharon, East Gwillimbury. New houses in Queensville, Sharon, Holland Landing and Mount Albert account for almost all of the town’s planned growth.

East Gwillimbury was the fastest growing municipality in Canada of at least 5,000 people between the 2016 and 2021 censuses. Its population increased 44.4%, from 23,991 to 34,637. The town plans for about 86,500 people by 2031.

How do zebra blinds give privacy at a street-facing window?

Zebra shades have alternating sheer and solid bands on one roller. Line the solid bands up for privacy. Offset them for filtered daylight. For a new house with bare windows, decide where you want that adjustment between privacy and filtered light before choosing your shades.

A roller blind is one panel of fabric with no bands. Shangri-La shades have soft fabric vanes held between two sheer layers. The chain tilts the vanes open or closed, then rolls the shade up. You can price Shangri-La shades by size on their own line on our website and order them online.

Can neighbours on a new street book installation together?

One visit can cover more than one house. Homes on one street that book together count as one order for installation pricing. At seven or more windows, we take 20% off installation. You can plan a shared booking while choosing the materials and controls for your own rooms.

Measure every window you intend to cover. Similar-looking openings still need their own measurements. If you are measuring several windows, measure them all in one pass with the same tape. Keep each window’s measurements with its room name so you can price the shade for that opening.

Can I see the material before ordering blinds?

You can order free material samples from our website before buying. That is something you can do while your closing date is still ahead. A colour on a screen is a poor guide to how the material will look in a room. Look at the sample in the room when you can, alongside the finishes you are choosing.

Our materials are identified by number. Keep the material number with your measurements when you make your choices. We assemble shades at 604 Edward Avenue Unit 15, Richmond Hill, ON L4C 9Y7. The workshop is an assembly shop. Free samples are available through the website.

What does it cost to motorize a floor of windows?

Any shade can be motorized for $115.00 more. One remote costs $50.00 and runs up to 15 shades. A motorized shade has no chain at all. Include the motor charge for each shade you want motorized, and the remote as a separate item in your budget.

Our chain-operated shades use a shrouded continuous-loop chain anchored to the wall with a tension device. You choose which side the chain hangs on. Our workshop sets the drop length to suit the window you have measured.

What should I budget for blinds at real window sizes?

For a chain-operated zebra shade, a bathroom-window example at 24 by 36 inches is $125.40. Bedroom-window examples are 30 by 48 inches at $175.00, 36 by 48 inches at $199.80, and 36 by 60 inches at $237.00. All four together come to $737.20. These prices include shipping in Canada and are before tax. GST or HST is charged by delivery province.

A roller blind at 24 by 36 inches is $86.10. A motorized zebra shade at 36 by 60 inches is $352.00, with the remote extra, once. These are examples of common window sizes. Every shade is priced from the measurements of the window it is for. There is no minimum order, so one shade is fine. Custom shades are final sale once the order is confirmed. That does not apply to a shade that arrives faulty, damaged or different from what was ordered.

Will you come to Sharon to install, and when can I measure?

Queensville, Sharon and Holland Landing is roughly 25 km from our workshop in a straight line. It is inside our installation area of 75 km from Elgin Mills and Yonge in Richmond Hill. Installation is $100 per window, with a minimum of three. At seven or more windows, installation is 20% off.

Measuring width: take the width of the window opening at the top, the middle and the bottom, then order the narrowest of the three. 1 2 3 Top Middle Bottom Measure all three. Order the NARROWEST width
Three width measurements. The narrowest one is the one that matters. It is the only width guaranteed to clear the frame.

Measure when you can take the measurements of the actual opening. Choose the mount first. An inside mount needs at least 2 inches of flat depth inside the frame. With less depth, choose an outside mount and add at least 2 inches each side and 2 to 3 inches above. Measure width first, then height, to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. For an inside mount, take widths at the top, middle and bottom, and use the narrowest. Take heights down to the sill at the left, middle and right, and use the longest. Do not subtract anything from the opening measurements. We make the inside-mount deduction.
