Bijou on Bloor Toronto blinds before closing

Bijou on Bloor in Toronto is still under construction. If your closing date is ahead, you can choose samples now and measure when the finished home is available, usually at the visit before closing. We make your shades in Richmond Hill and dispatch within three working days of a confirmed order. Allow for transit and installation when planning around your moving date.

What is Bijou on Bloor, and how far along is it?

Bijou on Bloor is a 12-storey condominium being built by Plaza in Bloor West Village, West Toronto. It is on Bloor Street West, just west of Jane station. BDP Quadrangle designed the building, which stands 42.1m tall and will house 186 condominium units.

The development is under construction. The building had topped off and its crane had been removed by January 2026.

Can blinds be mounted into a concrete window head?

A condo window head is often concrete. It needs a masonry bit and the right plug for the bracket fixing. Check what you will be fastening into before drilling. If you cannot identify the material or choose the right fixing, leave that work to an installer.

Decide on an inside or outside mount before measuring. An inside mount sits within the opening and needs at least 2 inches of flat depth for the cassette. If there is less depth, use an outside mount. This fixes to the wall above the opening and overlaps it, helping hide an out-of-square frame and block more light. For an outside mount, add at least 2 inches each side and 2 to 3 inches above.

When can I first measure before closing?

The first chance is usually the visit before closing, when the home is finished. Bring a tape and measure every opening you want covered. If an opening is still unfinished, wait until it is complete before confirming its measurements. Measure all your windows in one pass with the same tape, rather than assuming similar-looking openings match.

Measuring width: take the width of the window opening at the top, the middle and the bottom, then order the narrowest of the three. 1 2 3 Top Middle Bottom Measure all three. Order the NARROWEST width
Three width measurements. The narrowest one is the one that matters. It is the only width guaranteed to clear the frame.

Measure width first, then height, to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. For an inside mount, measure the width at the top, middle and bottom, and write down the narrowest. Measure the height from the top of the opening to the sill at the left, middle and right, and use the longest. Give us the exact opening without subtracting anything. We make the deduction ourselves.

What blinds suit floor to ceiling glass?

A zebra shade has alternating sheer and solid bands on one roller. Line the bands up for privacy and offset them for filtered daylight. That adjustment lets one shade serve a tall pane without needing both a blind and a curtain. A roller blind uses one panel of fabric with no bands. Shangri-La shades have soft fabric vanes between two sheer layers. The chain tilts the vanes open or closed, then rolls the shade up.

Our chain-operated shades use a continuous-loop chain, sold shrouded and anchored to the wall with a tension device. You choose the side the chain hangs on, and our workshop sets its drop length. Any shade can be motorized for $115.00 more. A motorized shade has no chain. One remote costs $50.00 and runs up to 15 shades.

Can I see the material before ordering?

You can order free material samples from our website before buying. A colour on a screen is a poor guide to how fabric will look in your room. Take the samples to your pre-closing visit if you can. Look at them near the glass and beside the finishes they will sit against.

We identify each material by the number the workshop cuts it by. Keep that number with your choice so you can find it again when ordering. Room-darkening options are materials 1, 2, 5, 9, 13, 30 and 35. Material 35 is for Shangri-La shades. Samples let you handle the fabric before confirming a made-to-measure order.

What should I budget for condo blinds?

For chain-operated zebra shades, a 36 by 72 inches full-height pane example is $274.20. A 48 by 84 inches floor to ceiling living room window example is $398.20. A 72 by 80 inches balcony slider example is $547.00. A 72 by 84 inches wide balcony slider example is $571.80. All four together come to $1,791.20. These are examples of common windows. Every shade is priced from the measurements of the window it is for.

As a roller blind, the 36 by 72 inches example is $192.30. As a motorized zebra shade, the 72 by 84 inches example is $686.80, with the remote extra, once. These prices are before tax and include shipping in Canada. GST or HST is charged by delivery province. Widths of 94 inches and over travel by courier in their own carton, with an $85 charge once per order. There is no minimum order.

Can ShadeForge install blinds at Bijou on Bloor?

Bijou on Bloor is roughly 25 km from our workshop in a straight line. It is inside our installation area of 75 km from Elgin Mills and Yonge in Richmond Hill. Installation costs $100 per window, with a minimum of three windows for a visit.

The mechanical parts of a shade our own team installs have lifetime cover. This covers the roller, chain, brackets and motor. Fabric is excluded. Custom shades are final sale once the order is confirmed, so check your measurements and material choices before ordering. That final-sale term does not cover a shade that arrives faulty, damaged or different from what was ordered.

Where the facts come from. What this page says about Bijou on Bloor comes from urbantoronto.ca, which we read on 6 October 2026. ShadeForge makes and fits window shades.
