What is House of Assembly, and are people moving in now?
House of Assembly is a high-rise condominium at 181 Sterling Rd in West Toronto, Toronto, being built by Marlin Spring Developments. People are moving in now. The builder includes it among its move-in ready condos, with suites showing a move-in date of 30 to 60 days.
Should I use one blind or two on a condo balcony door?
A balcony door is usually the widest opening in a flat. You can choose one wide shade or two shades side by side. Look at where the handle lands before deciding how to divide the opening. Think about reaching it when the shade is lowered. We make shades from 9 to 109 inches wide and up to 130 inches high. Widths of 94 inches and over travel by courier in their own carton, with an $85 charge once per order.
Decide on an inside or outside mount before measuring. An inside mount sits within the opening and needs at least 2 inches of flat depth for the cassette. An outside mount overlaps the opening: add at least 2 inches each side and 2 to 3 inches above. Measure width first, then height, to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. For an inside mount, measure the width at the top, middle and bottom, and use the narrowest. Measure the height to the sill at the left, middle and right, and use the longest. Do not subtract anything from your opening measurements. We make the deduction ourselves.
Which materials should I choose for a bedroom blind?
Our room-darkening materials are 1, 2, 5, 9, 13, 30 and 35. These are the dark colours in the range. Room-darkening does not mean shutting out all light. Materials 1, 2, 5, 9, 13 and 30 are zebra shade materials. A zebra shade has alternating sheer and solid bands on one roller. Line the bands up for privacy, or offset them for filtered light.

Material 35 is a Shangri-La shade material. Shangri-La shades have soft fabric vanes held between two sheer layers. The chain tilts the vanes open or closed, then rolls the shade up. We make them in materials 33 and 35. They have their own size-based pricing and can be ordered online. Free material samples are available on our website before you buy.
Should I ask the management office before choosing blinds?
Ask the management office about window coverings before choosing a colour. Many buildings set a rule about how windows look from outside. Check that requirement before settling on a material and confirming your order.
IllustrationWe identify materials by the numbers our workshop cuts them by. Keep the material number with your window measurements when ordering. Custom shades are final sale once the order is confirmed. That does not apply to a shade that arrives faulty, damaged or different from what you ordered.
When should I choose a roller blind instead of a zebra shade?
A roller blind is one plain panel of fabric with no bands. It suits a condo window when you want a plain layer rather than alternating bands. Our roller blind materials are 20, 21, 22 and 31.
A chain-operated roller blind at 24 by 72 inches costs $139.20 before tax. A chain-operated zebra shade at 24 by 72 inches costs $199.80 before tax. Shipping in Canada is included in those prices. At that size, the roller blind is the lower-priced option. There is no minimum order, so one shade is fine.
What do made-to-measure zebra shades cost?
These worked prices use common window sizes. Every shade is priced from the measurements of the window it is for. A chain-operated zebra shade at 24 by 72 inches, a narrow full-height pane example, costs $199.80. At 30 by 60 inches, a bedroom-window example, it costs $206.00. At 60 by 80 inches, a balcony-door example, it costs $464.33. At 60 by 84 inches, a wide living-room-window example, it costs $485.00. All four together come to $1,355.13 before tax, with shipping in Canada included.
Motorization adds $115.00 to any shade. One remote costs $50.00 and runs up to 15 shades. A motorized zebra shade at 60 by 84 inches costs $600.00 before tax; the remote is extra, once. A motorized shade has no chain. Chain-operated shades have a shrouded continuous-loop chain anchored to the wall with a tension device. You choose the chain side, and our workshop sets the drop length. Website payment is by Interac e-Transfer. GST or HST is charged according to the delivery province.

Where the facts come from. What this page says about House of Assembly comes from marlinspring.com, which we read on 6 October 2026. ShadeForge makes and fits window shades.
