What is EverHome Markham, and are people moving in?
EverHome Markham is a community of 131 suites being built by The Sher Corporation on McCowan Road in Markham. It has an eight-storey building with 77 suites and three five-storey low-rise buildings with 54 suites. People are moving in now.
Can I order blinds with neighbours?
Flats in one building can repeat, so tell us if several neighbours want to book. One visit can cover more than one home. Let us know which homes need measuring and which need installation when you contact us. Each shade still needs measurements for the opening it will cover. Measure every window rather than carrying a measurement from one home to another.
You can order free material samples on our website before buying. The workshop identifies materials by number, so keep that number with your measurements when you choose. There is no minimum order. One shade is fine if that is all you need to start.
What if the window head is concrete?
In a condo building, the window head is often concrete. Fixing into it needs a masonry bit and the right plug. If you are unsure what you are drilling into or how to secure the brackets, leave the mounting to an installer. Decide on an inside or outside mount before measuring. An inside mount sits within the opening and needs at least 2 inches of flat depth for the cassette. With less depth, choose an outside mount fixed to the wall above the opening.
Measure width first, then height, to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. For an inside mount, measure the opening at the top, middle and bottom and use the narrowest width. Measure down to the sill at the left, middle and right and use the longest height. Send us the exact opening without subtracting anything. We make the deduction. For an outside mount, add at least 2 inches each side and 2 to 3 inches above.
Can I motorize a shade on tall or hard-to-reach glass?
Any shade can be motorized for $115.00 more. A remote is $50.00, and one remote runs up to 15 shades. A motorized shade has no chain. For tall or hard-to-reach glass, that lets you operate the shade without reaching a chain at the side of the window.
You can choose motor operation for zebra shades, roller blinds or Shangri-La shades. Decide which shades you want motorized when you order, and include the remote you need. The remote is an extra charge once, rather than an extra charge for every shade it runs.
How does the chain work?
Our chain-operated shades use a continuous loop chain. It is sold shrouded and anchored to the wall with a tension device. You choose which side the chain hangs on when ordering. Our workshop sets the drop length to suit the window you have measured. Think about which side you can reach comfortably before making that choice.
Zebra shades alternate sheer and solid bands on one roller. Line the bands up for privacy or offset them for filtered light. Shangri-La shades have soft fabric vanes held between two sheer layers. Their chain tilts the vanes open or closed, then rolls the shade up. We make Shangri-La shades in materials 33 and 35, and you can price and order them online on their own line.
What do made-to-measure blinds cost?
These are example sizes for common windows, rather than measurements for EverHome Markham. A chain-operated zebra shade at 30 by 72 inches, a tall bedroom window example, is $237.00. At 36 by 72 inches, a full-height pane example, it is $274.20. At 48 by 84 inches, a floor to ceiling living room window example, it is $398.20. At 72 by 80 inches, a balcony slider example, it is $547.00. All four together come to $1,456.40 before tax, with shipping in Canada included.

Will you come to EverHome Markham and install?
EverHome Markham is roughly 10 km from our workshop in a straight line. It is inside our installation area, which extends within 75 km of Elgin Mills and Yonge in Richmond Hill. Installation is $100 per window, with a minimum of three. At seven or more windows, installation is 20% off.
We make your shades to order in our Richmond Hill workshop and dispatch within three working days of a confirmed order. Transit time is on top of that. We ship free anywhere in Canada, apart from the wide-shade courier charge. Our workshop at 604 Edward Avenue Unit 15 is an assembly shop. Contact us to book a measure or installation.
