If you are moving into Archetto this month, you can cover the bare windows together or start with bedrooms and street-facing rooms. We make shades to your measurements in Richmond Hill and dispatch within three working days of a confirmed order, with transit on top. Archetto is inside our installation area. The cost of covering a new house comes from the size of each window.
What is Archetto and are people moving in now?
Archetto is a community of traditional three-storey townhomes at 4433-4477 Major Mackenzie Dr W in Woodbridge, Vaughan, being built by Marlin Spring Developments. It is Move-In Ready, and people are moving in now. The community is roughly 15 km from our workshop in a straight line.
Should I buy blinds for the whole house or work in stages?
Start with bedrooms and street-facing rooms if you want to spread the work out. There is no minimum order, so one shade is fine. You can order free material samples on our website before choosing. A zebra shade alternates sheer and solid bands on one roller. Line the bands up for privacy or offset them for filtered light. A roller blind is one panel of fabric with no bands. Shangri-La shades have soft fabric vanes between two sheer layers. Their chain tilts the vanes open or closed, then rolls the shade up. They have their own size-based pricing and can be ordered online.
Order size changes the remake guarantee and the installation minimum. The remake guarantee starts at three shades on one website order and allows one blind per customer. It does not apply to trade accounts. An installation visit starts at three windows. Custom shades are final sale once the order is confirmed. That final-sale condition never covers a shade that arrives faulty, damaged or different from what was ordered.
What does it cost to motorize a floor of windows?
Any shade can be motorized for $115.00 more. One remote costs $50.00 and runs up to 15 shades. A motorized shade has no chain at all. You can choose motors for the windows you want to operate together or for a shade that would be awkward to reach once the furniture is in place.
A chain-operated shade has a continuous loop chain, sold shrouded and anchored to the wall with a tension device. Think about where you will stand to operate each shade before choosing between a chain and a motor.
Should I use one wide shade or two at a patio door?
Think about the part of the door you walk through. With one wide shade, you raise it to clear the passage. With two separate shades, you can raise the shade over the part you use and leave the other lowered. Check the opening and the mounting space before choosing the arrangement.

We make shades from 9 to 109 inches wide and up to 130 inches high, to the eighth of an inch. Widths of 94 inches and over travel by courier in their own carton. The courier charge is $85 once per order.
When should I measure the windows in a new house?
Measure after the trim and paint are finished. Use the actual opening rather than dimensions from the builder’s drawing. Decide on inside or outside mounting before measuring. An inside mount sits within the opening and needs at least 2 inches of flat depth for the cassette. With less depth, choose an outside mount. It fixes to the wall above the opening and overlaps the frame. For an outside mount, add at least 2 inches each side and 2 to 3 inches above.
Measure width first, then height, to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. For an inside mount, measure the width at the top, middle and bottom, and use the narrowest. Measure the height down to the sill at the left, middle and right, and use the longest. Give us the exact opening without subtracting anything. We make the deduction ourselves. Measure every window in one pass with the same tape. You choose the chain side when ordering, and our workshop sets its drop length.
What would blinds for a new house cost?
Each shade is priced from the measurements of its window. These common-window examples are chain-operated zebra shades, before tax, with shipping in Canada included. A tall window beside the door could be 30 by 72 inches at $237.00. A tall stairwell window could be 36 by 84 inches at $311.40. A front window could be 60 by 60 inches at $361.00. A patio door could be 72 by 80 inches at $547.00. All four together come to $1,456.40.

A roller blind at 30 by 72 inches is $165.75. A motorized zebra shade at 72 by 80 inches is $662.00. The remote is $50.00 extra, once. Measure each window you want covered to get the cost for your house. We make orders in Richmond Hill and dispatch within three working days of confirmation; transit is on top. GST or HST is charged by delivery province. Website payment is by Interac e-Transfer.
Can you come to Archetto and install the blinds?
Yes. Archetto is roughly 15 km from our workshop in a straight line. We install within 75 km of Elgin Mills and Yonge in Richmond Hill. Installation is $100 per window, with a minimum of three windows. At seven or more windows, installation is 20% off. Homes that book together, including neighbours on one street, count as one order for that rate.
When our own team installs a shade, its mechanical parts have lifetime warranty cover. That covers the roller, chain, brackets and motor. Fabric is excluded. Our Richmond Hill workshop is an assembly shop.
