What is One Crosstown and how far along is it?
One Crosstown is a condominium development by Aspen Ridge Homes at Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East in North York, Toronto. Designed by Core Architects, it occupies the former IBM and Celestica campus.
The development includes three towers of 32, 34 and 39 storeys and an 8-storey building called The Crest. The Block 12 development has 1,273 condominium units. It remains under construction. By August 2026, the towers had finished exteriors.
What is a condo window head made of?
A condo window head is often concrete. Fixing brackets into it takes a masonry bit and the right plug. Check the mounting surface before choosing your fixings. If you are unsure what you are drilling into or how to secure the brackets, leave that work to an installer.

Choose your mount before measuring. An inside mount sits within the opening and needs at least 2 inches of flat depth for the cassette. With less depth, choose an outside mount fixed to the wall above the opening. Add at least 2 inches each side and 2 to 3 inches above. An outside mount overlaps the opening, hides an out-of-square frame and blocks more light.
Can I book installation with neighbours?
Neighbours in one building can book together. Flats can repeat, so it makes sense to arrange the measuring and fitting together, while still measuring every opening separately. One visit can cover more than one home.
IllustrationHomes that book together count as one order for installation pricing. At seven windows or more, installation is 20% off. Coordinate access with the other homes before booking so the installer can reach each window during the visit.
When can I first measure before closing?
The first useful chance is usually the visit before closing, when the home is finished. Bring a tape and measure every opening. Record width first, then height, to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. For an inside mount, measure the width at the top, middle and bottom and use the narrowest. Measure the height to the sill at the left, middle and right and use the longest. Send the exact opening measurements without subtracting anything. We make the inside-mount deduction.
You can order free material samples before that visit. Once the measurements and choices are settled, we make your shades in Richmond Hill and dispatch within three working days of a confirmed order. Transit is on top. Work back from your moving date with those separate stages in mind. Custom shades are final sale once the order is confirmed, so settle the measurements before ordering. That does not exclude a shade that arrives faulty, damaged or different from what you ordered.
Can I motorize a tall or hard-to-reach shade?
Any shade can be motorized for $115.00 more. One remote costs $50.00 and runs up to 15 shades. A motorized shade has no chain at all. That gives you a way to operate a shade without reaching its window.
For chain operation, we supply a shrouded continuous-loop chain anchored to the wall with a tension device. You choose which side it hangs on, and our workshop sets the drop length. Zebra shades have alternating sheer and solid bands. Line the bands up for privacy or offset them for filtered light. A roller blind has one panel of fabric with no bands.
What should I budget for blinds at real window sizes?
These are example sizes for common windows, rather than measurements from One Crosstown. A chain-operated zebra shade at 24 by 72 inches costs $199.80 for a narrow full-height pane. At 30 by 60 inches, a bedroom-window example costs $206.00. At 60 by 80 inches, a balcony-door example costs $464.33. At 60 by 84 inches, a wide living-room-window example costs $485.00. Those four together come to $1,355.13, before tax, with shipping in Canada included.
A roller blind at 24 by 72 inches costs $139.20. A motorized zebra shade at 60 by 84 inches costs $600.00, with the remote extra, once. Every shade is priced from the measurements of its own window. There is no minimum order. Widths of 94 inches and over travel by courier in their own carton, with an $85 charge once per order. Prices are before tax; GST or HST is charged by delivery province.
Does ShadeForge install at One Crosstown?
One Crosstown is roughly 15 km from our workshop in a straight line. It is inside our installation area, which extends 75 km from Elgin Mills and Yonge in Richmond Hill. Installation costs $100 per window, with a minimum of three. At seven windows or more, installation is 20% off, including homes that book together.
We make the shades in our Richmond Hill assembly shop. It is not a showroom. The mechanical parts of a shade our own team installs have lifetime cover: the roller, chain, brackets and motor. Fabric is not covered.

Where the facts come from. What this page says about One Crosstown comes from urbantoronto.ca, which we read on 6 October 2026. ShadeForge makes and fits window shades. We are an independent business with no connection with Aspen Ridge Homes or with One Crosstown, and the photographs on this page are of other homes we have fitted. The picture marked Illustration was made by computer to show the kind of window: it is not a picture of One Crosstown, and not a photograph of our work.
