What is Lawrence Heights Revitalization and how far along is it?
Lawrence Heights Revitalization is a four-phase redevelopment of a Toronto Community Housing community in North York, Toronto. Toronto Community Housing Corporation is building it. The redevelopment is under construction. Phase 1 began in 2015 and is closing in on completion.
A revised Phase 2 proposal of January 2026 shows five blocks of 8 to 28 storeys with 1,748 residential units, including 961 condominium units.
Should I choose a roller blind instead of a zebra shade?
A roller blind is one plain panel of fabric with no bands. A chain-operated roller blind at 24 by 72 inches is $139.20 before tax, with shipping in Canada included. A chain-operated zebra shade at 24 by 72 inches is $199.80 on the same basis. The roller blind is the lower-priced choice at that size.

Choose a roller blind when you want a plain layer across a condo window and have no need to adjust bands. We make roller blinds in materials 20, 21, 22 and 31. There is no minimum order, so you can start with one shade.
What suits floor to ceiling glass?
A zebra shade alternates sheer and solid bands on one roller. Line the bands up for privacy or offset them for filtered daylight. That gives a tall pane both adjustments without needing a blind and a curtain. We make shades from 9 to 109 inches wide and up to 130 inches high, to the eighth of an inch.
IllustrationDecide on the mount before measuring. An inside mount needs at least 2 inches of flat depth inside the frame. Measure width first, at the top, middle and bottom, and use the narrowest. Measure height down to the sill at the left, middle and right, and use the longest. Record measurements to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. Give us the exact opening without subtracting anything; we make the deduction. With less depth, use an outside mount fixed to the wall above the opening. Add at least 2 inches each side and 2 to 3 inches above.
Should I ask the management office before choosing blinds?
Ask the management office before choosing a colour. Many buildings set a rule about how window coverings look from outside. Get that requirement before choosing your material. For a pre-closing purchase, take final measurements when you have access to the finished opening and can check the mounting depth. Measure every window in the same pass with the same tape.
Our chain-operated shades use a shrouded continuous-loop chain anchored to the wall with a tension device. You choose which side the chain hangs on. Our workshop sets its drop to suit the measured window. Any shade can be motorized for $115.00 more. A motorized shade has no chain. One remote costs $50.00 and runs up to 15 shades.
Can I see the material before ordering?
You can order free material samples from our website before buying. A colour on a screen is a poor guide to how it will look in your room. Look at the sample beside your finishes and at the window. Keep its workshop material number with your measurements so you order the material you chose.
We also make Shangri-La shades in materials 33 and 35. Soft fabric vanes sit between two sheer layers. The chain tilts the vanes open or closed, then rolls the shade up. Shangri-La shades have their own size-based pricing and can be ordered online.
What should I budget for made-to-measure blinds?
These worked prices use common-window examples. Every shade is priced from the measurements of the window it is for. A chain-operated zebra shade at 24 by 72 inches, a narrow full-height pane, is $199.80. At 30 by 60 inches, a bedroom window, it is $206.00. At 60 by 80 inches, a balcony door, it is $464.33. At 60 by 84 inches, a wide living room window, it is $485.00. All four together come to $1,355.13 before tax, with shipping in Canada included.
GST or HST is charged by delivery province. Widths of 94 inches and over travel by courier in their own carton, with an $85 charge once per order. Custom shades are final sale once the order is confirmed. That does not apply to a shade that arrives faulty, damaged or different from what was ordered.
Can ShadeForge come and install the blinds?
Lawrence Heights Revitalization is roughly 15 km from our workshop in a straight line. It is inside our installation area of 75 km from Elgin Mills and Yonge in Richmond Hill. Installation costs $100 per window, with a minimum of three windows for a visit. Neighbours in one building or on one street can book together as one order.
We make your shades in our Richmond Hill workshop. It is an assembly shop, with no showroom. When our own team installs a shade, the mechanical parts have lifetime cover. Those parts are the roller, chain, brackets and motor. The fabric is excluded.

Where the facts come from. What this page says about Lawrence Heights Revitalization comes from urbantoronto.ca, which we read on 6 October 2026. ShadeForge makes and fits window shades. We are an independent business with no connection with Toronto Community Housing Corporation or with Lawrence Heights Revitalization, and the photographs on this page are of other homes we have fitted. The picture marked Illustration was made by computer to show the kind of window: it is not a picture of Lawrence Heights Revitalization, and not a photograph of our work.
