What is being built at 355 Coxwell in Toronto?

Habitat for Humanity GTA is building a six-storey condominium with 33 attainable homeownership units at the northeast corner of Coxwell Avenue and Gerrard Street East. It is in the Greenwood-Coxwell area of East Toronto.

355 Coxwell is under construction. Construction had topped off by July 2026, and occupancy is anticipated in the second quarter of 2027.

Can I see the shade materials before ordering?

You can order free material samples from our website before buying. A colour on a screen is a poor guide to how fabric will look in a room. Look at the samples alongside the finishes you are choosing. Our materials are identified by number, so keep the material number with your choice.

Zebra shades alternate sheer and solid bands on one roller. Line the bands up for privacy or offset them for filtered light. A roller blind is one panel of fabric with no bands. Shangri-La shades have soft fabric vanes held between two sheer layers. The chain tilts the vanes open or closed, then rolls the shade up. Shangri-La materials 33 and 35 are priced by size and ordered online.

How does the chain work on a shade?

Our chain-operated shades use a continuous loop, sold shrouded and anchored to the wall with a tension device. You choose which side the chain hangs on. Our workshop sets its drop length to suit the window you have measured. Consider which side you can reach before confirming your choice.

Decide on the mounting position before measuring. An inside mount sits within the window opening for a clean, built-in look. Check for at least 2 inches of flat depth inside the frame for the cassette. If there is less depth, use an outside mount. This fixes to the wall above the opening and overlaps it. Add at least 2 inches each side and 2 to 3 inches above.

What should I ask condo management before choosing blinds?

Ask the management office about how window coverings must look from outside before choosing a colour. Many buildings set a rule about this. For a condo window, settle that question before ordering material. Wait until the finished opening is accessible before taking the measurements you will order from. A closing date ahead gives you time to choose samples, but you still need the actual opening to measure.

Measuring width: take the width of the window opening at the top, the middle and the bottom, then order the narrowest of the three. 1 2 3 Top Middle Bottom Measure all three. Order the NARROWEST width
Three width measurements. The narrowest one is the one that matters. It is the only width guaranteed to clear the frame.

Measure width first, then height, always to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. For an inside mount, measure the width at the top, middle and bottom. Use the narrowest measurement. Measure from the top of the opening to the sill at the left, middle and right. Use the longest height. Give us the exact opening measurements without subtracting anything. We make the deduction ourselves. Measure every window in one pass with the same tape.

What does motorizing tall or hard-to-reach shades cost?

Any shade can be motorized for $115.00 more. One remote costs $50.00 and runs up to 15 shades. A motorized shade has no chain at all.

Consider motorization while choosing controls for tall or hard-to-reach glass. You can choose which shades to motorize before confirming the order. The remote is extra, once, and can run several shades within that limit.

How much should I budget for made-to-measure blinds?

For a chain-operated zebra shade, a narrow full-height pane at 24 by 72 inches is $199.80. A bedroom window at 30 by 60 inches is $206.00. A balcony door at 60 by 80 inches is $464.33. A wide living room window at 60 by 84 inches is $485.00. All four together come to $1,355.13. These are common-window examples. Every shade is priced from the measurements of the window it is for.

A roller blind at 24 by 72 inches is $139.20. A motorized zebra shade at 60 by 84 inches is $600.00, with the remote extra, once. These prices are before tax and include shipping in Canada. GST or HST is charged by delivery province. There is no minimum order. Custom shades are not returnable once the order is confirmed. That does not cover a shade that arrives faulty, damaged or different from what was ordered.
