Blinds for moving into Realm in Burlington

If you are getting your keys at Realm this month, start with the windows you need covered first. We make zebra shades, roller blinds and Shangri-La shades to your measurements in Richmond Hill. There is no minimum order. We dispatch within three working days of a confirmed order, with transit on top. For a condo window, the mounting surface, frame depth and door handle all matter.

What is Realm and are people moving in?

Realm is a condominium community on Thomas Alton Blvd in Alton Village, Burlington, being built by ADI Development Group. People are moving in now, and the builder advertises a final release of move-in ready condos, with suites ready for immediate occupancy and moves possible in as little as 30 days.

How do I mount blinds into a concrete window head?

In a condo building, the window head is often concrete. It needs a masonry bit and the right plug. Check the mounting surface before drilling. If you are unsure what you are drilling into or how to secure the brackets, leave the work to an installer. Decide on an inside or outside mount before measuring. An inside mount sits within the opening and needs at least 2 inches of flat depth for the cassette. With less depth, choose an outside mount. This fixes to the wall above the opening and overlaps it. Add at least 2 inches each side and 2 to 3 inches above.

Measuring width: take the width of the window opening at the top, the middle and the bottom, then order the narrowest of the three. 1 2 3 Top Middle Bottom Measure all three. Order the NARROWEST width
Three width measurements. The narrowest one is the one that matters. It is the only width guaranteed to clear the frame.

Measure width first, then height, to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. For an inside mount, measure the opening’s width at the top, middle and bottom, and use the narrowest. Measure the height from the top of the opening to the sill at the left, middle and right, and use the longest. Give us the exact opening without subtracting anything. We make the factory deduction. Measure every window you plan to cover, using the same tape.

Which materials should I choose for a bedroom?

For room-darkening, choose zebra materials 1, 2, 5, 9, 13 or 30, or Shangri-La material 35. These are the dark colours in those ranges. Room-darkening does not mean shutting out all light. Free material samples can be ordered on our website before you buy.

Zebra shades alternate sheer and solid bands on one roller. Line the bands up for privacy or offset them for filtered light. Shangri-La shades have soft fabric vanes held between two sheer layers. The chain tilts the vanes open or closed, then rolls the shade up. Shangri-La materials 33 and 35 have their own size-based pricing and can be ordered online.

Should a balcony door have one shade or two?

A balcony door is usually the widest opening in a flat. Consider one wide shade or two side by side, and check where the handle lands before choosing the mount. Make sure the handle will clear the fabric and fittings. Think about which part of the opening you want uncovered when using the door.

We make shades from 9 to 109 inches wide and up to 130 inches high, to the eighth of an inch. Widths of 94 inches and over travel by courier in their own carton. That charge is $85 once per order.

When is a roller blind a better choice than a zebra shade?

A roller blind is one plain panel of fabric with no bands. Choose it for a condo window when you prefer a plain surface and do not need the band adjustment of a zebra shade. Roller materials are 20, 21, 22 and 31.

A chain-operated roller blind at 24 by 72 inches is $139.20. A chain-operated zebra shade at 24 by 72 inches is $199.80. Both prices are before tax and include shipping in Canada.

What do made-to-measure blinds cost at common window sizes?

For chain-operated zebra shades, a narrow full-height pane at 24 by 72 inches is $199.80. A bedroom window at 30 by 60 inches is $206.00. A balcony door at 60 by 80 inches is $464.33. A wide living room window at 60 by 84 inches is $485.00. All four together come to $1,355.13. These are common-window examples. Each shade is priced from the measurements of the window it is for.

The motorized zebra shade at 60 by 84 inches is $600.00. Motorization adds $115.00 to any shade. A remote costs $50.00 extra, once, and runs up to 15 shades. A motorized shade has no chain. Prices are before tax, with shipping in Canada included. GST or HST is charged by delivery province. We dispatch within three working days of a confirmed order; transit is additional. The website accepts Interac e-Transfer.

Will you come to Realm in Burlington to install blinds?

Realm is roughly 70 km from our workshop in a straight line. We install within 75 km of Elgin Mills and Yonge in Richmond Hill. Installation costs $100 per window, with a minimum of three. At seven or more windows, installation is 20% off. Neighbours in one building who book together are counted as one order for that pricing.

Our team’s installation gives lifetime cover on the mechanical parts: the roller, chain, brackets and motor. Fabric is excluded. Chain-operated shades have a shrouded continuous-loop chain anchored to the wall with a tension device. You choose the chain side when ordering, and our workshop sets the drop length.

Where the facts come from. What this page says about Realm comes from realmcondos.ca, which we read on 6 October 2026. ShadeForge makes and fits window shades. We are an independent business with no connection with ADI Development Group or with Realm, and the photographs on this page are of other homes we have fitted.
