Start with bedrooms and street-facing rooms if you need to spread the work out. There is no minimum order, so one shade is fine. You can measure every window together and order the rooms you need first. Free material samples are available on our website before you buy. For bedrooms where you want room-darkening fabric, the materials with that designation are 1, 2, 5, 9, 13, 30 and 35.
Order size changes the remake guarantee and the installation booking. The remake guarantee applies to website orders of three shades or more and is limited to one blind per customer. It does not apply to trade accounts. An installation visit starts at three windows. Custom shades are final sale once the order is confirmed. That does not cover a shade that arrives faulty, damaged or different from what was ordered.
What blinds should I choose for windows facing the street?
A zebra shade has alternating sheer and solid bands on one roller. Line the solid bands up for privacy, or offset them for filtered daylight. You can adjust the bands without raising the shade completely. Order samples before choosing the material so you can look at them in the room where the shade will hang.
Our chain-operated shades have a continuous-loop chain, sold shrouded and anchored to the wall with a tension device. You choose which side the chain hangs on. The workshop sets the drop length to suit the window you have measured. Think about which side you can reach when deciding where the control should go.

Start with how you will walk through the doorway. A single wide shade needs to be raised enough to clear the part you use. With two shades, you can raise the shade over the part you walk through and leave the other down. Decide how you want to use the door before choosing the arrangement.

When should I measure windows in a new house?
Measure after the trim and paint are finished. A measurement taken off the builder’s drawing is not a measurement. Decide on the mount before measuring. An inside mount sits within the opening and needs at least 2 inches of flat depth for the cassette. If you have less depth, use an outside mount. An outside mount fixes to the wall above the opening and overlaps it. Add at least 2 inches each side and 2 to 3 inches above.
Measure the width first, then the height, to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. For an inside mount, measure the opening at the top, middle and bottom. Use the narrowest width. Measure from the top of the opening to the sill at the left, middle and right. Use the longest height. Give us the exact opening without subtracting anything, because we make the inside-mount deduction ourselves. Measure every window in the same pass with the same tape.

A roller blind is one panel of fabric with no bands. At 24 by 36 inches, it is $86.10. A motorized zebra shade at 36 by 60 inches is $352.00, with the remote extra, once. Any shade can be motorized for $115.00 more. A motorized shade has no chain. One remote costs $50.00 and runs up to 15 shades.
Do you install blinds in Hawthorne East Village?
