We charge by the window for installation, with a minimum booking of three windows. You can also order a single shade and fit it yourself. The choice comes down to the fitting work, the chain’s wall anchor and the mechanical parts warranty. Start with your window measurements, then keep the shade price and installation charge separate as you decide.
How much does shade installation cost?
We install within 75 km of Elgin Mills and Yonge in Richmond Hill. Installation is $100 per window, with a minimum of three windows. There is no minimum order for the shades themselves. You can order one shade for a window you plan to fit yourself.

For a 30 by 48 inches bedroom window, a chain-operated zebra shade is $175.00 before tax. Installation is a separate charge. If that is the only window you need, keep the minimum booking of three windows in mind before choosing who will fit it.
Our own team’s installation also includes lifetime cover on the mechanical parts of the shade. That means the roller, chain, brackets and motor. The fabric is outside that cover. If you are weighing the fitting charge against doing the work yourself, include that difference in your decision.
What do shades cost for common window sizes?
A chain-operated zebra shade for a 30 by 48 inches bedroom window is $175.00. For a 48 by 48 inches kitchen window, it is $249.40. A 48 by 60 inches living room window is $299.00. A 72 by 60 inches wide front window is $423.00. All four together come to $1,146.40 before tax, with shipping in Canada included.

Those are examples of common window sizes. We price every shade from the measurements of the window it is for. For another fabric construction at the smaller size, a roller blind for a 30 by 48 inches window is $121.50. A roller blind has one panel of fabric. A zebra shade has alternating sheer and solid bands on one roller.
Keep installation separate when comparing those prices. The window measurements set the shade price. The installation charge is $100 per window, with a minimum of three windows. GST or HST is charged according to the delivery province.
What should I consider before fitting shades myself?
Look at the fitting work as well as the shade. There are brackets to fit, and a chain-operated shade has a continuous loop chain that must be anchored to the wall with a tension device. We supply the chain shrouded. Think about your ability to fit the brackets and anchor the tension device before deciding to take on the job.

You choose which side the chain hangs on when you order. We set the drop length in the workshop. Make that side choice with the window and the wall anchoring point in mind. The chain and its tension device are part of the job you are taking on.
Measurements matter before any fitting begins. We make widths from 9 to 109 inches and heights up to 130 inches, to the eighth of an inch. Custom shades cannot be returned once the order is confirmed. That does not remove your protection if a shade arrives faulty, damaged or different from what you ordered.
Does a motor change the fitting decision?
Any shade can be motorized for $115.00 more. A motorized shade has no chain, so there is no chain tension device to anchor to the wall. The brackets still form part of the fitting work. Choosing a motor changes the control, while installation remains a separate charge.
One remote costs $50.00 and runs up to 15 shades. You do not need a separate remote for every shade within that limit. Keep the motor charge and the remote charge separate when pricing your order. The motor is among the mechanical parts covered by our warranty.
What cover do I get if I install them myself?
Our mechanical parts warranty is 1 year free, currently upgraded free to 3 years. It covers the roller, chain, brackets and motor. None of our warranty options covers fabric. When our own team installs, the mechanical parts cover lasts for life.
You can also buy 5 year cover at checkout. The checkout shows the price in dollars for your order. Compare that amount with the installation charge for the windows you need fitted.
The remake guarantee is limited to one blind per customer. It applies to website orders of three shades or more and does not apply to trade accounts. If you are ordering a single shade to fit yourself, that order does not qualify for the remake guarantee.
